Red Bull’s Manny Mania is coming to Edinburgh so get your twinkle toes out and get practising your manuals. We want to see as many Scots as possible entering this event. Here are the details for this years event from the source along with a wee bit of footage from the test run of this years obstacles:
Red Bull is proud to announce the return
of Red Bull Manny Mania in the UK this October and November. The competition,
which was a huge success last year, will see some of the best amateur and
professional manual tricksters battle it out on an original manual pad
configuration in an attempt to be crowned 2009 champ.
Over recent years manual tricks have risen in popularity and this
technically difficult area of skating deserves recognition. The contest will
have a jam session format to reflect the way skateboarding happens
naturally and also to encourage the
best tricks.
This exciting
format will see talented unknowns pitch their skills against some of the
country’s best. The competition will have four initial qualifiers with the top
four riders from each session progressing through to the Grand Final in London
on Saturday 28th November.
The
competition promises to be hotter than ever with the inclusion of the
Republic of Ireland and Northern
Ireland. They will also holding
four feeder sessions with one skater qualifying for the London Final from
each.
UK skater Kris Vile
comments: ‘It’s nice to see some creative thinking in the competition scene. Red
Bull Manny Mania will give people the chance to bring their manual skills to the
table and show them off. Plus I’m stoked Ireland are in on the action this year.
I’m sure they’ll bring a big bag of tricks along with them to the Grand Final in
London. I can’t wait.’

Red Bull Manny Mania is a ‘Manual’ skate
trick contest. It returns for a second year this autumn and is bigger (twice the
size) and better (obviously) than before. Red Bull Manny Mania 2009 involves
both the UK and Ireland with a total of 8 Qualifier rounds before the Grand
Final in London.
Comp Format
Both sponsors and unsponsored riders are
welcome.
· Jam
session format
· 5 minute qualifier/10 minute final round, 4 riders
per session
· The top 4 skaters from each UK qualifier will
progress to the Grand Final in London. In Ireland the best skater at each
qualifier will go to the London Grand Final.
· Judging will be based on
creativity, difficulty and use of the Manual Pad
