the bowl in leven was designed by myself. I raised hell with the council when they arsed it up and now its getting dont correct. i couldent give a toss if nobody else in the world likes my bowl but i worked my arse off for over four years to get it built and im happy.

Hey! am not ATTACKING the design... which I can't judge either way since the design has not been posted . And am really glad there has been a lot of skater input: just as it should be!

What I'm mainly curious about is the construction methods... I've never seen concrete parks being built like that, with vertical panels of concrete acting like the plywood panels in wooden ramps... very weird.

And the construction quality of Monifieth skatepark 'bowl-end' is abominable. BE CAREFUL WITH THESE GUYS AND SUPERVISE THE FINISH AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

It would be very frustrating to have a lovely looking bowl/etc be ruined by badly placed coping etc.

I have nothing but high hopes for your projects.

cheers chap,. aye the method they are using does seem strange but the finish seems smooth. unfortunatly they layed the coping before they done anything and it is looking a bit scary but the guys are going to fix it towards the end so it dont stick out so much.

Oh, Deano, I went down yesterday, afraid to say, they've made a pigs ear of that. Do you have any contacts in the council to see if you can get them to fix it. I don't think they should be allowed to sign that off. The transitions are awful. Some of it is close to roll ins with coping and the coping more or less sticks out too far all the way round.

I'm gonna chase up my e-mails to the council which are still un-answered to find out about Dunfermline and I'll see if they know anything about the sign off process.

If the leven bowl is screwed up best get chasing them up to work on it now or it will slip past forever.

Neil can you get some photos of the Leven Bowl. If these cowboys are going round Scotland creating balls up'd parks then we need to imform the councils about this as well as getting in touch with the builders themselves and point out that this will not do. There is no point in councils spending money on extensions that are crap. That thin top layer of concrete looks well dodgy to me.

This needs to be addressed as it happens all over the country & it shouldnt,
Oregon certainly doesnt have a problem with this & neither should we,
I would suggest an SS meeting with Daryll involved, if he can/wants to make it.
We have an organisation here which can be used to combat this 'scurge' of bad quality skatepark builders & I think we should.
There are various methods of dealing with this, none of which are simple but with a few good heads together I think we can come up with solutions.

After all it is our tax paying pounds which fund these projects so they should be spent wisely & not used for lining random construction companies pockets, for poor workmanship.

im afraid to say that what exists in leven was their 3rd try at building our bowl. personally i wish i could have quit my job and built the bloody thing myself. To make matters worse they made a pigs ear out of all the other fife extentions. i would also like to add that the site manager is a prick who knows nothing and will not take advice from anyone who goes a skateboard because were skateboarders and not builders.

Here are the contact details for these jokers If anyone wants to get in touch with them:

Head Office Branch Office

JKF (Group) Ltd
Scoonie Road
Leven
Fife

KY8 4SE

Tel: 01333 424457

Fax: 01333 424340

Email: Office@jkfltd.co.uk

web: http://www.jkfltd.co.uk/Aboutus/Aboutus.htm

It seems like they should of only been used to do the fencing round the park and not build the parks themselves.

Neil do you fancy(as Skateboard Scotland rep from Fife) getting in touch with Fife Council and telling them what a poor effort JKF is making of doing these parks. I see that they were awarded the contract to develop all the play facilities across Fife. I'm presuming that this means they will be getting involved with a lot of other skate parks. This is a real worry to all at Skateboard Scotland. Deaing with a play park is nothing like dealing with a skatepark. Fife need to be made aware of this asap.

Maggs, Do you have any contacts that may help us with this?

I really worry the leven bowl surface won't even last the winter with the thickness of the top layer.

I think Deano definitely could of built the bowl better!

Will do, there's a guy I've been in contact with recently to find out when the Dunfermline work is starting. I'll try and get a hold of him tomorrow.
